Caribbean Day a Massive Success
Following on from last year's hugely successful tour match against Queens Park CC from Trinidad, this year we hoped to follow the same formula with a Caribbean Day commemorating Harwood Williams' magnificent 22 years service to Dunnington CC.
In the morning our juniors were treated to coaching from our Caribbean superstars followed by the junior 'St Kitts Cup' tournament which was enjoyed by all who took part.
In the afternoon we were treated to an excellent 35 over game of cricket between a Dunnington CC Select XI and a Caribbean XI made up of overseas cricketers plying their trade in English League Cricket. The game was won by the Caribbean XI comfortably in the end but there was plenty of entertainment along the way including a dynamic half century from Stamford Bridge's Donovan Sinclair, and another half century from Kittitian Larry Audain. Perhaps the highlight of the day was the 'not-so-Caribbean' Des Healey pinning DCC skipper Jack Bolam LBW to raucous laughter from the crowd.
In the evening, the ladies committee had organised a Caribbean night with food, music and presentations which topped off a fantastic day for the club. Thank you very much to all who were involved in making the day such a success; in particular the endless hard work of Dave Bristow and the ladies committee who slaved all day on the BBQ and organised a superb evening for the teams and supporters.
