Brian Stacey

It is with deep sadness that we advise of the passing of one of our cricket legends, Brian Stacey.

“Stace”, as he was fondly known, was a formidable opening bowler for Dunnington in the late 60s right through to the 90s, his opening bowling partnership with Steve Whittaker was the envy of clubs far and wide and still talked about in local cricketing circles to this day.

Brian (Stace) was a miserly line and length bowler who wore his heart on his sleeve and was a winner but also enjoyed the social side with the opposition after the game.

Brian was part of the DCC team that won the prestigious Senior Charity and Myers Burnell cups in the 70s.

In 1986 he won the Top Division bowling award with 34 wickets @ 11.35 and in 1994 won the Div 4 bowling award with 40 wickets @ 10.15

We will miss you Bri, you gave us many great memories on and off the pitch.

RIP Brian a true legend of Dunnington Cricket Club.
